Rusty Bodkins was set up in 2011 and is a passion as well as a small business. It is a study and a recreation of military archery in late medieval Scotland.

The 15th century was a high watermark for the Scots' relationship with the bow and crossbow. Many contemporary documents from the Parliament of Scotland records show their procurement and use enshrined in law.

Until March 2020 my work involved presentation and demonstration of the medieval weapons, alongside public participation archery, mainly at Historic Scotland sites. This has had to be suspended for the time being, however I am hopeful to perhaps bring back the presentation and demonstration side at some point in the future.
